68 Degrees North - Escorted Tour
A 4-night adventure by private aircraft to deep within the Arctic Circle. We will take you to the Lofoten Islands in Norway to play golf on one of the world’s most scenic courses and to witness(conditions permitting) that extraordinary natural phenomenon: the Northern Lights.
The voyage described below was undertaken by the Members of The Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle in 2022 and 2024.
A gentle lead into the journey takes you to golf at one of the famous Surrey Sandbelt courses (or a private helicopter day to Royal St Georges) followed by a night at the exquisite and quintessentially English Cliveden House. The return takes you to golf in the Highlands of Scotland before returning to Cliveden for a farewell dinner.
Highlights Include
A private charter plane from London/Biggin Hill/ or an alternative airport to Bodo in Norway, returning via Inverness.
Scenic return helicopter ride from Bodo to Lofoten.
Breakfast at Cliveden and then landing 200 km inside the Arctic Circle in time for lunch.
Golf at Royal St Georges or a famous Surrey Sandbelt golf course.
Golf at Lofoten Links, one of the world's top 100 golf courses.
Golf at Cabot Highland’s Scotland.
Boat (Rib) to Henningsvaer for lunch (exploring the wildlife on the way) and a visit to the studios of local artisans and glass blowers.
Try out Lofoten’s beach/oceanside sauna to soothe aching limbs.
Pop up boathouse wild dinner of freshly caught Cod.
Pony trekking on beaches surrounding Hov Farm until midnight to view the Northern Lights (conditions permitting).
Accommodation
Cliveden House needs no introduction, the pinnacle of elite glamour (as well as high society scandal). A 5* Relais & Chateau hotel and spa.
Lofoten Estate Lodge. Decorated in Scandi-chic style, these comfortable abodes offer fantastic views over the course and ocean.
An excellent alternative when in Lofoten-stay onboard HMS Gassten (a luxurious former Swedish minesweeper) and tour the archipelago in style
Bravo Whisky Golf has now travelled to these wonderful archipelagos on a number of occasions.
It is possible to ski in the mountains up until May and play golf at midday and midnight during the summer as the sun never goes down. This adventure is, however, scheduled for our favourite month to visit, September, when the temperature is cool but not cold. It is also the best time to witness the Northern Lights and there is no experience quite like catching a glimpse of dramatic skies when astride one of Frode’s (the owner of Hov Farm) precious and sturdy Icelandic horses.
