West Coast Wonders

This three day adventure will whisk you from your destination of choice by private charter plane to some of Scotland's most rugged outposts exploring the Mull of Kintyre and two scenic Hebridean islands: Islay and Jura.

Golf in seclusion on two remote links both now fixtures in the world’s top 100 courses. Settle into the slower rhythm of life on these outposts; off the links taste some of the rarest and finest malt whisky on the planet and enjoy delicious seafood, as fresh as you like.

Highlights Include

  • A scenic charter plane journey from Loch Lomond (20 mins from Glasgow Int Airport) to Islay.

  • All guests will be guided through one of Islay’s famous distilleries on a VIP tour and whisky tasting.

  • Non-golfers can e-bike, paddleboard, surf, fish, shoot or just relax and enjoy the West Coast’s landscape and wildlife.

  • Golf on Ardfin (subject to availability) and The Machrie Golf Links, both in the top 100 of the world’s golf courses.

Accommodation

The Machrie Hotel and Golf Links has been totally renovated and upgraded by the owners, Gavyn Davies and Baroness Sue Nye, and handed over by them to the Campbell Gray group to manage. The building is a bold modern structure that makes a strong statement in this wild and windswept corner of the Island. Inside is warm, friendly, and luxurious. There are plenty of contemporary pieces of furniture and art to enjoy and the views across the golf course are stunning- whatever the weather.

Ardfin is the creation of Greg Coffey and his wife Ania Brzezinski who has cut no corners in the restoration of an old stable block to form 13 bedrooms of the highest standard and two, two-bedroom apartments. With more work being undertaken to the estate, outbuildings, and the Boathouse, this project and 19-hole links is a triumph of man vs nature, creating such a masterpiece on this rugged little island is no mean feat.

Scotland boasts some of the finest produce in the world-a true abundance of nature's larder from the cold seas and rivers to the lush fields, forests and glens.

Up until relatively recently, the problem was that there was no one to cook it. That all changed in the 1990s with Gordon Ramsay and he has been followed by a plethora of talent from Tom Kitchin, and Nick Nairn to Lorna McNee and Tony Singh. If the conditions are favourable we may be able to splash down near Monachyle Mhor and meet chef and entrepreneur Tom Lewis who prepares langoustines just as we like them, hot and fresh with butter and garlic.

If the stars align and we are able to visit Jura with you the non-golfing guests will be engaged and occupied.

We can arrange with Willie for you to hop in the Argo all-terrain vehicle to venture up into the hillside to spot a stag or we can introduce you to Claire from Lussa Gin who will tell you about how she arrived on the Island to shoot a video of the band KLF over 25 years ago and never left. Because Bravo Whisky Golf experiences are as much about the people we know as the places we visit.
